1st Murayama Invitational Championships 5th October 2008

Pensnett Shotokan travelled to the Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge for the 1st Murayama Invitational Championships.
The competition was fierce and of course there was friendly rivalry from our sister club at Dudley Shukokai. However there were wins for Libby Armstrong in the children’s under 10’s kata division and for Sarah Nock in the girls 14-15 kumite section. Newcomers Scott Wilkes Junior and Senior both came away with bronze medals in the kumite section. Vanessa Stokes secured silver in the ladies junior kata and also bronze in the ladies open grade kumite and one in the team kata event. The Bowater family did the club proud by coming away with a haul of medals to add to the table. Well done to all that took part and a big thanks for the invite from Shito-kai England. The competition ran like clockwork and with nearly 200 competitors we were all leaving just after five pm.
